在论述中，鲍曼提出，道德市场有效运行的必要前提是，社会中的绝大多数企业家追求合作性战略（即合作博弈战略），从而产生对道德人士的强大需求。若要满足这一必要前提，又需要满足如下三大条件：第一，必须有一个拥有结盟和结社自由的开放社会的存在，给合作性企业战略带来良好的赢利前景；第二，必须存在中立化的权力关系，使强势群体和企业不能压迫弱势成员；第三，需要一个有效的正式或非正式的社会控制机制的存在，大大提高采取隐蔽违背规范行为的风险水平。

《科技革命与社会制度嬗变》中有八篇文稿探讨科技革命与两种社会制度嬗变的问题。书中提出：发生在20世纪70-80年代个人计算机的普及和因特网的建立、生物基因的革命等应该算是第四次科技革命；科技革命推动西方资本主义国家社会演变的路径可以概括为：科技革命引发产业革命，产业革命引起社会结构变革，社会结构变革导致政治结构变革，最终达到社会制度演变，然后社会制度又反向促进科技发展；70-80年代以来国家垄断资本主义开始发展到国际垄断资本主义新阶段；新科技革命给东西方社会主义，即共产常与社会民主党都带来理论和制度创新的双重挑战，给中国特色社会主义建设提供了新的机遇和挑战，对中国传统工人阶级从结构，数量到素质产生了多方面的影响；新科技还要求当代马克思主义者回答如何看待帝国主义阶段和资本主义经济危机，如何解放社会主义革命的动力和道路等问题。书中有四篇文稿研究全球化问题。书中指出：发展中国家参与全球化进程要付出成本，如要让渡国家主权和国内市场，会造成人才流失和技术发展障碍，还会进一步扩大与发达国家的差距，而且面临着国家安全风险、金融风险、文化传统与交流风险以及政治风险；同时全球化进程又是发展中国家维护主权和趋利避害、加速发展的契机。本书有一篇文稿专门谈到，在建设中国特色社会主义文化方面，马克思主义理论的指地位、中华传统文化和大众文化都面临西方文化思潮的冲击和挑战。书中有五篇文稿及第三条道路问题。第三条道路是一种源远流长的社会思潮。它起源于20世纪，介于资本主义与共产主义两条道路之间。社会民主主义要寻走第三条通过民主改良逐步实现社会主义之路。随后，第三道路几经嬗变，即90年代中期经由美国总统民主党领袖克林顿与英国首相工党首脑布莱尔联手又提出第三条道路之后，它持续了多年成为书刊的热门话题，国内外理论界发表了大量文稿。各抒已见。以上述这些要点可以看出，年轻一代学者沿着前人的路子奋力开拓，确实已经展现了新路径、开拓了新局面，令人欣慰和振奋！
