奈特图解医学全集JAMESThe opportunity to continue to promote the extraordinary educational value of the exquisite art of Dr. Frank Netter in a state-of-the-art update of this classic series has been an honor for me and my esteemed associate editors. Netter's images have brought insightful value to students for over 6 decades and have now been updated and enhanced to benefit future generations of students. This updated edition of Digestrve System has been rewritten and renewed to include cutting-edge science and state-of-the-art endoscopic, pathologic, and radiographic images, along with Netter's ageless drawings and images that provide insights that foster students' and practitioners' understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of all eight regions that make up the fascinating and complex digestive system.Frank Netter, MD, described by the Saturday Evening Post as the "Michelangelo of Medicine," continues to be an icon in medical education. The insightful imagery of his medical illustrations provides value for students at all levels of experience who seek insights into the structure and function of digestion in ways that few other texts have in the history of medical education. His vision for these texts-integrating factual information with visual aids-provides unparalleled insights. While born at the onset of the twentieth century, his background mimics many modern medical studentsbeginning his education in the arts before becoming a scientist. By following his mother's wishes to move beyond art and into medicine, Frank Netter used his passion and brush to communicate the science and the art of medicine in unparalleled ways. In distinction to anatomy texts that offer images of structure only, Netters paintings also brought incredible insights into the pathophysiology of disease. Just as important, in ways unsurpassed by any other text, he and his dedicated disciples have illustrated how patients are affected by the suffering caused by disease. In all three of these revised parts of Digestive System, new artists, committed to the style and value of Dr. Netter's illustrations and led by Carlos Machado, MD, have modernized both the science and the art of his illustrations in all aspects of the digestive system. This update of the digestive system's anatomy and disease has taken a new approach to communicate the complexity and integrated beauty of this fascinating organ system. The classic images Dr. Netter drew were preserved whenever possible and altered only as necessary Dozens of modern radiographic and endoscopic images have been added to all sections in all volumes. The first section in both Parts I and II summarizes shared aspects of the digestive system. Each subsequent section is dedicated to a specific organ and reviews normal anatomy and physiology, pathology, pathophysiology, and disease presentation and treatment. Each section has been written by authors who were chosen for their dedication to teaching the fascinating aspects of the digestive system. I had the honor of choosing incredibly distinguished associate editors with whom I have had the pleasure of working throughout my career. In each case they have published expertise in their respective organ system and have demonstrated their commitment to and sHll in medical education. Their knowledge and insights bring updated scientific understanding of disease mechanisms and current treatments that will convey understanding of the largest and most complex organ system that is unparalleled by other texts. In each section, Dr. Peter Ward updated each of the subsections on normal anatomy and physiology. He has worked hard to preserve the original pictures of Dr. Netter while ensuring the accuracy of the text based on current terminology and science. In Part I of this three-part set I sought to provide insights and an overview of the upper digestive tract. Michele Young, MD, associate chief of gastroenterology at the University of Arizona's Veterans Administrative Hospital in Phoenix, has written the first organ-focused chapter on the complex anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of pharyngeal and upper esophageal funcoons. New insights into imaging and physiologic understanding of the complexities of swallowing are provided. David A Katzka, MD, distinguished professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic, revised the section on the esophagus, and is clearly one of the world's authorities on the topic. New insights into diseases that are common today but were not known at the time of the first edition, including Barrett's esophagus and eosinophilic esophagus, are beautifully illustrated and discussed. Part I closes with a section by Henry Parkman, MD, a renowned gastric physiologist and physician from Temple University Dr. Parkman brings a special new focus on the neurophysiology and electrical physiology of normal gastric function and disease.I review common anatomic, physiologic, and clinical aspects of intestinal disorders in Section 1 of Part 2. In Section 2, Dr. Missale Solomon offers a beautifully written treatment of normal and abnormal disorders of the primary digestive organ, the small intestine. In Section 3, one of modern gastroenterology's eminent educators and Dean at the University of Connecticut, Suzi Rose, MD, discusses the colon. -

奈特图解医学全集DAVID KAMINSKYIt has been an honor to be the editor of the second edition-first major revision in 30 years-of Netter's Respiratory System. The changes that have occurred over the past 3 decades in pulmonary medicine have been profound. The challenge of editing this edition has therefore been to include these updates while at the same time preserving the unique nature and artistic beauty of Netter's classic depiction of human health and disease. In addition to ensuring the accuracy and relevance of the timeless topics of anatomy and physiology, we have significantly revised the sections on airways, parenchymal and pleural diseases, lung cancer, infectious diseases, thromboembolic disease, inhalational diseases, acute respiratory distress syndrome, pharmacotherapy, radiology, mechanical ventilation, and trauma and surgery. New sections have been created on pulmonary immunology, pulmonary hypertension, lung manifestations of systemic disease, sleep medicine, exhaled breath analysis, endobronchial ultra-sound, video-assisted thoracoscopic ultrasound, lung volume reduction surgery, and lung transplantation. I am indebted to the many outstanding contributors to this edition, who are each international experts in their field. Without their input, it would have been impossible to ensure that the most up-to-date, accurate information would be provided to bring Netter's Respiratory Disease into the 21st century. I would like to thank especially those contributors who have been my teachers and mentors over the years: Drs. David Badesch, Jason Bates, Gerry Davis, Barry Make, Ted Marcy, Polly Parsons, Charlie Irvin, Richard Irwin, Mike Iseman, and Talmadge King. Special thanks also go to Dr. Jeffrey Klein, who made extra efforts to provide radiographic images for many different sections of the book. Finally, I want to dedicate this work to my grandfather, Dr. Edward Budnitz, who shared with me his love of medicine and inspired me to pursue a career as a physician. -
奈特图解医学全集ROGER P.SMINTH"The cbalienge, tberefore, was to absorb and assimilate the new learning and to exhibit it in a form easily understandable, attractive and so instructive that the essential points could be readily visuakzed and the more rmportant details grasped without need for search in specific or original publications. "——Frank H. Netter MD, Introduction, The Netter Collection of Illustrations, Reproductive System, 1954No student of medicine, past or present, is unaware of the extraordinary series of medical illustrations created by Dr. Frank Netter, the master artist-surgeon. This incredible body of work has since been carried forward after Dr. Netter's passing by the talented Carlos Machado, MD, and others, all remarkably gifted medical illustrators, Physicians old and young have looked at these imagesume and again for the last five decades, returning to them as comfortable sources of clear and clinically succinct information. For many of us, it was this volume that was bought for us by our parents as our first textbook in medical school, and is still cherished to this day.The Netter series of illustrations underwent 19printings over 56 years but has never undergone a substantive revision until now. The privilege of edidngthis monumental tome has been both daunting an drevealing. Dr. Netter's art is utterly timeless, highly exact and informed to the point of being prescient. How do you improve on a masterpiece? On the other hand, medicine has change dramatically over the past five decades since this volume first appeared and demands that entirely new and previously unimagined medical knowledge be brought to thereadership. Similar to restoring a da Vinci painting or translating a Nabokov novel, editing this volume hashighlighted for us both the magnitude of change inmedicine and the timelessness of Dr. Netter's art. Consistent with Dr. Netter's philosophy, we have chosen to let the art do most of the speaking and have limited the text to providing context, clarification, and clinical application. It is our hope that this work will be as treasured and as valued as the original, even if it remains clinically relevant for only a fraction of the time. Join us as we celebrate the beauty, logic, mystery, complexity, and artistic richness of clinical medicine illustrated in this the second edition of the Netter Collection. -
奈特图解医学全集WILLIAM YOUNGThe second edition of the Endocrine System volume of the Netter Collection is designed to provide physicians at all stages of training and practice with a visual guide to the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the endocrine glands. The first edition was published in 1965. In the intervening 5 decades, there have been remarkable developments in our understanding of endocrine disorders. The text has been entirely rewritten, but most of the anatomic and clinical artwork of Frank H. Netter, MD, has stood the test of time. Since new endocrine disorders and treatment approaches have been recognized over the past 50 years, new artwork has been added in every section, including the following: current surgical approaches to remove pituitary tumors, tests used in the diagnosis of Cushing syndrome, adrenal venous sampling for primary aldosteronism, Cushing syndrome caused by primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical disease, treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, multiple endocrine neoplasia types 1 and 2, and von Hippel-Lindau syndrome. Carlos Machado, MD, James A. Perkins, MS, MFA, Kristen Wienandt Marzejon, MS, MFA, and John Craig, MD, have contributed outstanding new plates to this edition, as well as adapted and updated existing artwork. The accompanying text serves to illuminate and expand on the concepts demonstrated in the images. The book is organized in 8 sections, which correspond to the glands and components of the endocrine system: pitLutary and hypoLhalamus, thyroid, adrenal, reproduction, pancreas, bone and calcium, lipids and nutrition, and genetics and endocrine neoplasia. In some cases, the Netter drawings are supplemented with modern diagnostic images (e.g., computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging). The original Netter edition and the new illustrations focus on embryology, gross anatomy, histology, physiology, pathology, clinical manifestations of disease, diagnostic modalities, and surgical and therapeutic techniques.Writing an "update" that spans 5 decades has been a daunting challenge. However, this new edition will serve to preserve and provide context for the original Netter illustrations well into the twenty-first century. This work is not a complete textbook of endocrinology, but rather it is a visual tour of the highlights of this medical discipline. I hope readers find the artwork and accompanying text useful guides as they navigate the world of endocrinology.I gratefully acknowledge my colleagues and patients at Mayo Clinic who have provided me with the clinical experience, perspective, and insights to address the broad field of endocrinology. The editorial and production staffs at Elsevier have been very supportive at every step from initial general concepts to final publication. I am indebted to the incredible second generation of Netter artists. I also want to thank my daughter, Abbie L. Abboud, MS, CGC, ELS, for her invaluable help in medical editing and providing guidance on clarity of thought and concept. Finally, I dedicate this book to my family-their encouragement and support have been inspirational during the 2 years it took to produce the second edition of the EndoLYine System volume of the Netter Collection. -
