肖辉编*的《语法-翻译教学法面面观》共分引言部分、七大章和结论部分。在本书的引言部分,笔者运用了定量定性分析的方法进行了实证研究。本书的**部分首先从历史的视角审视外语教学法,分别从传统主义和现代主义两个方面详加论述。本书的第二部分第三章从理论层面上对外语教学法进行了深入的探讨。第四章论述了语言学中的结构主义与生成主义,着重探讨了结构主义与外语教学、转换生成语法与结构主义之间的关系。第五章论述了心理学中行为主义和心灵主义,仔细研究了行为主义与语言习得、行为主义与外语学习之间的关系,详尽论述了心灵主义与行为主义争论之焦点。本书的第三部分第六章阐述了母语干扰与外语教学的关系,并作了实证研究,就母语干扰、对比分析假设及其批评、对比分析假设与行为主义、母语干扰作为学习者的策略以及中介语等问题作了深入的分析。第七章就双语词汇及其寓意进行了深入的探索。第四部分为本书的结论部分:对语法—翻译法在外语教学中的作用做了全面深刻的分析。
