作者简介
作者:(英国)约翰·高尔斯华绥(John Galsworthy)约翰·高尔斯华绥(1867—1933),是英国小说家、戏剧家。他出身在一个富裕的资产阶级家庭,父亲是伦敦著名律师。他曾在牛津大学攻读法律,1890年获得律师营业执照开始执行律师业务,但不久就放弃律师工作而从事文学创作。1897年,高尔斯华绥发表处女作《天涯海角》,但一直到1904年《岛国的法利赛人》出版,才引起社会注意。1906年,高尔斯华绥完成长篇小说《有产业的人》,小说获得广泛好评,他也因此而被公认为英国第一流作家,并被认为是英国文学中现实主义传统的优秀继承者。高尔斯华绥是个多产作家,在二十多年的创作生涯中,几乎每年写一部小说和一部剧本。1932年,高尔斯华绥“因其描述的卓越艺术——这种艺术在《福尔赛世家》中达到高峰”而获得诺贝尔文学奖。高尔斯华绥的重要作品有:长篇小说三部曲《福尔赛世家》(1922)由《有产业的人》(1906)、《骑虎》(1920)、《出租》(1921)组成,三部曲《现代喜剧》(1928)由《白猿》(1926)、《银匙》(1926)、《天鹅之歌》(1928)组成,三部曲《尾声》(1934)由《女侍》(1931)、《开花的荒野》(1932)、《河那边》(1933)组成。作品以l9世纪后期和20世纪初期的英国社会为背景,描写了英国资产阶级的社会和家庭生活,以及盛极而衰的历史。他的作品语言简练,形象生动,讽刺辛辣。他的主要戏剧作品有《银匣》(1906)、《斗争》(1909)、《正义》(1910)、《鸽子》(1912)、《皮肤游戏》(1920)、《忠诚》(1922)、《逃跑》(1926)等。 TOP 其它信息 页数:808版次: 第1版 开本:32
