离开格陵兰岛之后,鹦鹉螺号直追沃坦号。一路上,疑点再起,怪猫阿斯特惊爆特劳德曼从未想念过自己的儿子,而特努德曼又如先知一般知晓沃坦号将和何时何地炸沉货船坎伯兰王子号。想要阻止惨剧发生的特劳德曼未能如愿,反而身受重伤,急需治疗。于是,鹦鹉螺号直奔最近的岛屿。却没想到,岛上的医生就在等候他们,并为他的雇主一个神秘人传了话。很快,神秘人驾着似乎来自未的快艇飘然而至,他竟然是……短暂相聚之后,神秘人接走了特劳德整,并指示鹦鹉螺号开到百莫大三角。在那里,鹦鹉螺号等来了沃坦号,也等来了一颗让鹦鹉螺号永沉深海的鱼雷。
