Therefore， teachers should find ways to teach students to be active， rather than passive， media viewers.Nowadays， as a popular new teaching mode， multimodal teaching mode mainly emphasizes the introduction of multimode symbols （language， images， music， networking， and so on） into the teaching process to fully mobilize the students' various senses （listening， seeing， tasting， and touching）， so as to enhance and broaden their understanding of new knowledge and the effects for their mastering what they have been exposed to.Multi-modal teaching requires that teachers choose different teaching methods （such as audio-lingual method， communication method， the total physical response method， secret suggestion， direct explanation， situational teaching method， the grammatical translation method， etc） according to the course content， teaching and learning environment， as well as the learning target， and their rational uses are essential for students to understand and grasp the target language knowledge.Previous generations of students learned about western culture from reading the textbooks， listening to teachers， and analyzing primary source documents.
