本书是“十二五”职业教育 规划教材，依据 《中等职业学校建筑工程施工专业教学标准》，并参照现行建筑施工相关规范和施工员等职业资格标准编写。本书主要内容包括走进课程、抹灰工程、地面工程、轻质隔墙工程、饰面工程、涂饰工程、裱糊与软包工程、门窗工程、细部工程、吊顶工程、幕墙工程、外墙保温工程和附录。各单元设置了基础知识、工艺流程、施工操作要点、质量验收标准和常见的质量通病等内容。本书以某小学行政楼建筑施工图为主要案例进行编写，见林宏剑、蒋敏主编的《建筑工程施工图实例和构造详图》，该书及配套数字化资源可与高等教育出版社出版的建筑类专业“十二五”职业教育 规划教材及其他相关教材配套使用。

本词典选取唐代至清代戏剧、小说、佛教徒语录、敦煌变文、宋儒讲学录、使臣谈判实录、元代散曲、白话碑校和刑部案例以及其他相近似的古代俗文学作品中的语词为条目，并以元杂剧和明人小说为重点语料资源，条目包括语词、百科性词汇和部分短语，共约6万余条，约700万字。这些词汇在古汉语词典中不予收录，现代汉语词典又因其来自古代作品，在现代汉语中多已消失，也不予收录，以至近代汉语在语文词典中成为空白。本词典对近代汉语词汇的格理、阐释，可为从事这方面研究和教学的从业者提供有益的工具，也可为阅读中国古代小说、戏曲作品的普通读者提供有益的工具书。词典2008年出版后，受到海内外读者好评，近十年来，作者又对原著进行了全面增订，由500万字增至约700万字，从立目到释义、注音、例句进行了修订和补充，更加丰富和完善了该词典的内容。目前该项目仍是国内仅有的较为完备的有关近代汉语的重要工具书。
