作者简介
RobWeaverwasborninTopeka,Kansas,andgrewupinArlington,Virginia.HereceivedhisbachelorSdegreeinchemistryfromTheCollegeofWoosterinWooster.0hio,in1964.HeearnedhisPh.D.inboichemistryatDukeUniversityin1969,thenspenttwoyearsdoingpostdoctoralresearchattheUniversityofCalifornia,SanFrancisco,wherehestudiedthestructureofeukayoticRNApolymeraseswithWilliamI.Rutter.HeioinedthefacultyoftheUniversityofKansasasanassistantprofessorofbiochemistryin1971,waspromotedtoassociateprofessor.andthentofullprofessorin1981.In1984.hebecamechairoftheDepartmentofBiochemistry.andservedinthatcapacityuntilhewasnamedAssociateDeanoftheCollegeofLiberalArtsandSciencesin1995.Prof.WeaveriSthedivisionaldeanforthescienceandmathematicdepartmentswithinthecollege,whichincludessupervising14differentdepartmentsandprograms.Asaprofessorofmolecularbiosciences.heteachescoursesinintroductorymolecularbiologyandthemolecularbiologyofcancer.Hedirectsaresearchlaboratoryinwhichundergraduatesandgraduatestudentsparticipateinresearchonthemolecularbiologyofabaculovirusthatinfectscaterpillars.Prof.WeaveriStheauthorofmanyscientificpapersresultingfromresearchfundedbytheNationalInstitutesofHealth,theNationalScienceFoundation.andtheAmericanCancerSociety.HehasalsocoauthoredtwogeneticstextbooksandhaswrittentwoarticlesonmolecularbiologyintheNationalGeographicMagazine.HehasspenttwoyearsperformingresearchinEuropeanLaboratoriesasanAmericanCancerSocietyResearchScholar,oneyearinZurich,Switzerland,andoneyearinOxford,England.
