鲁迅编印《北平笺谱（全6册）》，一方面是为了保存民族的文化遗产，一方面是为新生的艺术提供营养。今天西冷印社的同志们与费君重印此书，意愿当亦同此。联想起四十年前的往事，编者就更加感念西泠印社和千千万万为传承民族文化而尽心尽力的普通人。中华民族的优秀文化历经多少劫难，真是“野火烧不尽，春风吹又生”，而其所以能重新萌芽以至葱笼茂盛，绿遍天涯，不仅需要“春风”，更需要土壤，那土壤就是甘为文化献身的广大普通民众。《北平笺谱（全6册）》共收笺谱三百三十二幅。西泠印社出版社除了以宣纸按原貌大小重印、制作成高档精美的线装书外，还选编其中的近七十幅印成《北平笺谱精选》，以满足普通读者的需求。
